Topic: Lifted Off The Ground

I had turned my back on country music for years. I had always loved Chely's music but I couldn't bring myself to listen anymore. I had turned off my emotions in order to survuve what i was going through. I realise now that, that wasn't a healthy thing to do. Lifted Off The Ground broke through My emotional lockdown and made me feel things i hadn't felt in years. EVERY song hit home for me. Especially 'Snow Globe' and 'Damn Liar'.
Thank you Chely for restoring my love of country music again.
Thank you for such a beautiful album, truly art.
I can't wait to hear what you'll write next, I'm sure they'll be even better, and that much more open.

Re: Lifted Off The Ground

This CD was amazing. I have listened to Chely Wright my whole life, and I found that this was the most honest, revealing, and heartfelt CD she has ever released. She did a very brave thing, especially in country music. I bought this CD on the release date and was so happy that this artist that I loved for years was finally releasing another album. The album Lifted Off The Ground quickly became my favorite addition to my music library. I hope to see many more great things come from her.
You are AMAZING Chely!

Re: Lifted Off The Ground

yeah i didnt know who she was before kinda around March this year, im from the UK so country really does not get played over here.
I have never been so inspired by anyone as i am by chely, her whole outlook on life aswell as her music. I am so excited to see her in June next year in Nashville, really will be a dream come true for me.

Re: Lifted Off The Ground

i'm from austria and it seems like the word country music doesn't even exist here.... my favourites are "objects of your rejection" and "wish me away"  countless repeats!

Re: Lifted Off The Ground

I would have to agree with the rest, it does by far resonate as her best work.  She was allowed to be open and free thanks to the song Like Me.  Which makes me tear up every time I hear it.  It's a beautiful heartfelt song.

I will admit, i was introduced to Chely's music because of Single White Female, but have grown to love all her music since then, and will continue to for years to come.

She's an inspiration and role model.

Don't think i could choose a fav, but do love Like Me and Damn Liar.

Oh and how awkward was it at first to hear her swear.  LOL.

Notes to The Coroner is my favorite, I also really like Damn Liar (including the remix) and That Train.
I don't know about anyone else, but the cut Heavenly Days just didn't feel like it fit with the rest of the album. It just doesn't seem like it comes from quite the same place, like it's not quite as organic, or something.
Does anyone else wish that Chely would release "Something Positive and Hopeful" as a single? LOL

Re: Lifted Off The Ground

I just have to say that Chely Wright is an inspiration. I finished her book about a week ago. If you haven't read it yet, you absolutely need to. It's incredible. She has an amazing gift for words and music. It made me think about my own sexuality. I don't usually talk about it. I am still struggling with it in a way. I think right now I can safely say that I am asexual.

I have never really given myself a chance to explore this. I am afraid to get hurt. I've been hurt in worse ways in my life, this may send me over the edge.

I guess I just need to open up more and just let whatever happens happen.

Re: Lifted Off The Ground

I am 13, live in Singapore and so country music is practically non-existent, 'cept maybe for Taylor and Carrie and such, so when I got hooked on country when I was younger, it was strange. Last year, I started realising that I was not straight. After some research I turned my back on the country ideals and music. When Lifted Off The Ground came out, it knocked down the walls that kept me from singing and listening to what I loved. It woke me up and saved me when I was on the verge of a breakdown with the combined stress of the Primary School Leaving Exams and staying hidden. It gave me the courage to live and to stand up to say that Gay is Okay. Now anytime someone makes a gay joke, they have to face me, cause I will NOT stand for such things anymore.
Sadly, I still can't get Lifted Off The Ground here. Sucks....
