Topic: Women's Music

For those of you who might not be aware, there is a rich culture of "women's music" artists who blazed the trail for the lesbian music performers of today. In the early 70's, Olivia Records, the first woman owned and operated record company, produced incredible music by women such as Meg Christian, Cris Williamson, Margie Adam, Holly Near, Teresa Trull, Willy Tyson, Sweet Honey on the Rock, Alix Dobkin, Tret Fure and many more. These brilliantly talented women made music about and for women-loving women that uplifted, enriched and empowered an entire generation of lesbians. Many of these women artists are still creating amazing music so I encourage you to explore their websites and purchase their music. You can also find music videos created by their fans on youtube.com.  Listen to  "Changer and the Changed" by Cris Williamson. It will change your life!

Don't forget to also support some more recent lesbian artists such as Brandi Carlile, Tegan & Sara, Melissa Ferrick, Jennifer Knapp, and Sarah Bettens...just try not to make it harder for me to get tickets to their shows.
