oh yeah... luv the L Word. never get tired of watching the series. I esp. like Marina too...
I like to add gay men loved this show too. One of my all time faves!
Jennifer Beals-need I say anymore : )
You are so right Chuck.... Jennifer Beals ... is one classy lady!
Yes theres definitely something about Bette. She looks so good in a suit!
For all you JB lovers out there she will be gracing our TV screens again after the Super Bowl when her new show Chicago Code debuts. Ilene Chaiken was recently interviewed by Autostraddle and Ilene dropped a little bombshell when she said that Jennifer has been pushing Shawn Ryan (the show creator) to make her character on the show gay. Guess she misses playing Bette! I saw an interview Jennifer did a while back. She was asked about the "sexuality" of her new character and Jennifer being Jennifer just skirted answering the question directly and gave the interviewer one of her famous looks. I think the comment was something to the effect of - it was still up for discussion. Too late for S1 but if the show is picked up for S2 look for Jennifer's character to be an out lesbian who also just happens to be the police commissioner.
BTW, she is really a neat woman. Had the opportunity to cook with her a few years ago in Chicago for a Gender PAC fund raiser. It was a blast.
I just loved that show .So sorry to see it go out like it did.And I also loved QAF
Never missed an epsiode. I still watch them on DVD. And, as a side note, the show was very good for me......I met my wife on the L Word message board at sho.com.

That was one of the really great things things about TLW. It created community all around the world. There were several really active message boards that were busy 24/7 (Sho.com, Media Blvd, TiBette.com, TWOP and of course OurChart.com). I made some really good friends on those boards over the years. We are all still in contact with each other and we try and get together at least once a year in some country or at some L Word function.
I do miss that show, especially Bette!
I just noted Arianna Huffington on Face the Nation and was immediately transported to dialogue between Shane and Alice.
Alice, "You're doing Arianna Huffington?"
Shane, "Her hair Al, her hair." lol, ah the good old days.
Even though the show made me rather unhappy after Dana's demise, it did bring about some change in myself which was welcome. And yes the message boards and events it spawned gave me some more sense of community.
I live in a small midwestern town, and I have now had the chance to meet and thank many in the cast of the L Word through a couple of conventions. Jennifer Beals is amazing as are Erin Daniels and Leisha Hailey. You can really tell that those women were immersed in the stories of their characters as human beings and wanted to do them justice. Bravo. At a convention in England, Jennifer could not keep from crying while talking about her role as Bette, and how she could identify with the bigotry due to her own biracial background. Thanks Jennifer, you then had the rest of us in tears as well!
But the plot thickens, as it was at one of those conventions that I met my overseas girlfriend. We had previously conversed a bit via one of the L Word message boards, but I had no idea one message would lead to a relationship.
So yes I have very fond memories of the show and how it has touched my life, and yes, I can and do quote some funnier moments. Yet it's surreal that it took this medium to change my life for the better.
